Another sleepless night with works in progress...

I had someone tell me that some artists may think that night time is their most creative time, but the reality of it was that it's really harmful to be creative late at night because it's bad for your liver...so now that I'm killing my liver with insomnia I'll post some pictures of what I've been doing when I'm supposed to be sleeping.

Pen and ink with graphite on paper
These drawings have been addictive. Since I was little I was obsessed with repetitive pattens so it's nice to do something that feels natural to me. I'm really into the french like swirls which you'll see in the second picture. That piece is still in progress, I'm debating about adding color. That one is also drawn on canvas.

some journal pages

Zentangles, doodles, drawing....

I think it was a stroke of genius for the creators of the trademark Zentangle to do what they've done. They've taken simple drawings and patterns and turned them into a beautiful monster. There is a name for every pattern, women are verbally attacking people in youtube video's for not using the right name for a technique, or using a pen to make draw the original square.... everyone knows it's supposed to be a pencil. Can we think outside the box perhaps. It's also pretty difficult to get an idea of basic patterns for inspiration because it's really encouraged to buy the kit. Anyway for a few seconds it felt like people are loosing sight of reality. There is no right or wrong way to draw a doodle... anyway here's what I did last night.

Season of the Witch

My husband and I went to see Season of the Witch last night. I didn't go into the movie with high hopes, but he wanted to see it so we went. The movie was horrible. Poorly written and acted. That's all I'll say because I don't want to think about it anymore. Wait until the movie is on netflix on demand if you want to see it, don't waste the DVD shipping fee. We already go to the movies as early or as late as possible to avoid the crowds, but with 6 people in the theater last night, one woman walked up to us during the movie and asked if we would help her out by calling her phone cause she lost it. I'm all for random acts of kindness to help a fellow man out, but I left my phone at home.... because I knew I was going to a movie. I take the ads during the previews to turn off phones and to be respectful of the other movie patrons seriously. It just doesn't make sense, the ticket prices are way too high, the concession food prices are criminal, the heating and cooling systems are programed to make people uncomfortable, and the people are most definitely to be avoided. They police the theaters during the movies to make sure no one's sneaked it. It isn't relaxing and I certainly don't escape reality. So I'd rather take the 20 bucks I waste going to the movie and add it to our savings. The last few months life has been hard for us. Money is short, this was our first date out in a very long time, but my money mind has changed. Everywhere I look I see ways to save money and no more movies has been added to my list.

5am earache with snow...

I'm waiting for the melatonin to kick in, it's pretty obvious I'm not getting to sleep on my own. I think I've got an ear infection but I can't do anything about it, so I'll just cross my fingers and hope it goes away. In other news it's finally snowed enough for the plows to come out and I can hear them from the apartment, I kinda like the sound they make. I'm too tired to write anything meaningful, besides, who's reading this anyway?
